Last year, these were my New Year’s resolutions. The outcomes of said resolutions are in italics. Write more original posts on my Tumblr. (Not really.) Be a better friend. (Possibly.) Become more spiritual. (I think so.) Make my bed every morning. (I stole that one from Melissa!) (MOST DEFINITELY.) Write more letters and thank yous. (Not so much.) Take a yoga class. Just one. (I’m taking yoga once a week!) Create a cleaning schedule for our house that I can stick to, with work travel and such. (FAIL.) Plan ahead a couple meals each week. (Also, FAIL.) You’d think I wouldn’t be okay with how 2011 all panned out, but I feel pretty good about what I accomplished. I may not be able to plan meals ahead each week, but my job is going really well. Even though I don’t clean our house as often as I should, we do have a roof over our head. I cannot evaluate if I’ve been a better friend or not, but even with how often I traveled in 2011, I still have great relationships with loved ones. 2011 was not an easy year, mostly because of the loss of loved ones - some much too young to leave this world so soon. But loss has made me appreciate each day on this Earth that I have. On difficult days, I try to remember that each day is a gift and (sorry for the cliche) not to sweat the small stuff. Peace and love to you and yours in 2012. xo mp
